The Next Chapter

It’s time to write the next chapter.

For years, we’ve been told what this chapter of our lives should look like. Culture whispers that it’s about slowing down.

Birthdays invite reflection. I recently turned 73 and took a hard look at what I want this next chapter to hold. I’m far from finished. I refuse to fade away.

Instead of asking, “What do others need from me?” it’s time to ask, “What do I want to do with the years I have left?”

That question changes everything.

As I begin writing this next chapter, I must decide how boldly I’ll write it. At this age, something shifts. The outside voices grow quieter. The inner voice grows stronger. This is not a winding down; it’s a claiming of power.

It’s time to:

    • Train for strength.

    • Pursue the postponed dream.

    • Deepen my circle.

    • Speak the truth I once swallowed.

    • Take the trip.

    • Build something new.

To Live Strong, Not Fragile

Physical strength is no longer about appearance. More than looking young, I want to feel capable. I want to carry my own groceries, travel freely, walk without fear, and move with confidence.

This is about autonomy. Mobility. Command of my own body.

It’s time to lift weights, hike mountains, rebuild bone, and train balance—not to look younger, but to remain powerful.

Strength equals independence. Independence equals dignity. Strength is a declaration: I intend to stay independent.

To Live With Purpose, Without Apology

There is a deep hunger to matter.

This chapter isn’t about retiring from life; it’s about stepping fully into what aligns with my purpose. It’s about finally pursuing what has been postponed for too long.

It’s time to:

  • Write the book.

  • Start the nonprofit.

  • Launch the business.

  • Mentor younger women.

  • Travel alone.

  • Learn something bold.

  • Contribute.

This means refusing to wait for permission. Joy isn’t indulgent—it’s essential.

Fierce Editing

This is the season to cut what drains me:

  • Relationships that exhaust.

  • Obligations that no longer matter.

  • Stories of inevitable decline.

  • Wasted time.

Time is precious. I refuse to squander it.

Visibility on My Terms

Women today want ownership of our time, energy, bodies, and choices. We are done shrinking. We refuse to disappear.

There is power in no longer needing approval. This is a time of choosing—not proving. We choose strength, freedom, connection, joy, respect, and visibility.

Illusions burn away. The need to impress fades. The pressure to meet others’ expectations dissolves. Tolerance for wasted time drops to zero.

What rises instead is clarity.

A powerful realization emerges:

If not now… when?

The Next Chapter

This is not the closing scene. It is a moment of clarity—when you finally understand who you are.

I am no longer proving. I am choosing.

I refuse to be introduced as what I used to be.
I am not done.
I am not finished.
I am not winding down.

I want missions, not memories.
Creation, not reflection alone.
Contribution, not quiet observation.

A warrior does not retire from meaning. When you understand that, you become unstoppable. Finish strong—don’t fade quietly.

Perhaps the most powerful shift of all: stop waiting for someone else to give you permission.

As you write the next chapter, how boldly will you write it?

Will you:

  • Train for strength?

  • Pursue the postponed dream?

  • Deepen your circle?

  • Speak the truth you once swallowed?

  • Take the trip?

  • Live authentically?

No more masks.
No more ill-fitting roles.
No more pretending to be smaller than you are.

This isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about returning to who you’ve always been.

Write the next chapter.
Write it in bold ink.
